Install
Three steps to a compliant site.
The short version. Most installs take about five minutes; the full guide covers every pixel and platform.
-
Add one script tag
In your dashboard, open your site and copy its embed code. Paste it into your page
<head>, above your Google Tag Manager snippet. The order matters: ConsentChecks must set consent defaults before GTM boots. Do not addasyncordefer.<!-- Place above your GTM snippet --> <script src="https://app.consentchecks.com/cc.js" data-site="YOUR_SITE_KEY"></script>
Your real snippet, with your own site key, is shown in the dashboard.
-
Register your hostnames
In the dashboard under your site, add every hostname the site answers on.
www.example.comandexample.comare separate entries. Consent logging is rejected from any hostname you have not registered, which is the most common reason for an empty log. One site covers all of its subdomains, so use the same snippet everywhere. -
Verify it works
Open the site in a fresh private window. The banner should appear, and after you accept, a new entry should show up in your Logs within seconds. Google tags follow Consent Mode automatically; for other pixels, gate them on the
cc_<category>_grantedevents in Tag Manager.
Already running another consent tool? Remove it before installing. Two consent tools fight over the same Google signals. After installing, purge any page caches so the snippet reaches visitors.
